Unexpected news

February 13, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

Completely unexpected is the news that today’s court hearing has been postponed until the 18th April to be held in Bangkok. After all the requests and denials for relocation the prosecution witness could not travel the arduous journey to Songkla. This completely proves that the insistence by the Criminal Court to make Somyot, and his legal team and supporters take the 13 hour journey was unnecessarily harsh. We believe that the location of the trail hearings were planned on the basis of causing maximum harm to Somyot’s physical and mental health, and attempting to limit the amount of support available to him during the trial. This contradicts his right to a fair trial.

The large group of supporters who have travelled to Songkla will follow Somyot back to Bangkok.

We will update the site with news of Somyot’s health, already seriously concerning because of his treatment.
